Been meaning to try this place for a while. I'm glad I did. As soon as I was seated a waitress brought out fresh chips and salsa. There were 2 bottles of salsa. One looked like it had peppers in it and the other looked pretty plain. I only tried the one that looked like it has peppers. It was incredible with plenty of heat. The chips were very good as well. I knew I wanted a burrito and my waitress took time to explain the different burritos on the menu. I ordered the mixed Caly burrito. It had steak and chicken. What I took notice of was that the steak was thinly sliced and it was very tasty. The burrito was one of the best I've had in a long time. Customer service was great and the food was great. I'll definitely be back to try something else on the menu.

The staff is beyond amazing, friendly, fast service. Amazing food! We found our go to place.
Spending a night in Lumberton we looked at Google Maps for Mexican Restaurants. We have eaten at a different Mexican Restaurant in Lumberton but decided to try El Zarape. It was a good choice. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. As soon as we sat down at a booth they came over with chips, two different salsas and took our drink orders. I think this is the first non-fast food restaurant Iβve been to that doesnβt have tequila. We were going to have a tequila drink but instead had non-sweet Iced Tea. I ordered Vegetarian #1 which was a bean burrito, a cheese enchilada and came with rice plus a side order of beans. My wife had a cheese enchilada, bean enchilada and a chicken taco. We shared an order of guacamole which was extra delicious. Our server, Mayrna, was excellent. She came over just the right amount of time to check on us and offered suggestions on what to order. Our car was at the local Chevy dealer and we didnβt know if it would be ready the next day. We told Mayrna if it wasnβt ready we would see her the next night but if it was ready she would know it worked out for us. Mayrna: We will see you on our next trip, thanks.
It was my 40th birthday dinner! The food was awesome. The staff was super friendly. I had an awesome time! Oh, and when asked for a super large side of sour cream, they delivered!
Lumberton, NC, is a migratory stop-over on the I95 route and has a large amount of restaurants to choose from. You may be tempted to go for the easy and obvious national chains, but if you are in the mood for a good authentic Mexican restaurant, I suggest searching for this restaurant. The food is really good. My wife had shrimp, steak, and chicken fajitas, and she said they were one of the best she's had. I had enchiladas supremas, which tasted great, too! The staff was pleasant and attentive, and the prices were great - almost half of what we are accustomed to!
Overall the food was really good our waitress was really good. Only complaint i have is the lighting was dim so was hard to read the menu but everything else was good. We enjoyed our meal and our visit, definitely would come again to try other items on the menu.
Love coming here! The food is great and service is quick!
